Before he was captain of the 1980 'Miracle on Ice' team, Mike Eruzione wore a Toledo Goaldiggers jersey. Mike Eruzione played two seasons for the Toledo Goaldiggers from 1977-79 and was in 150 regular season games, scoring 57 goals with 101 assists. In 20 playoff games with Toledo, he scored 9 goals with 15 assists. The left winger was part of the 1978 International Hockey League Turner Cup championship team. He was awarded the IHL’s Ken McKenzie Trophy in 1978 as the outstanding American-born rookie. Eruzione joined the U.S. Olympic team in 1979, and is best known for scoring the famous game-winning goal against the Soviet Union in the medal round of the Olympics.
