Toledo has acquired forward Daniel Leavens in exchange for forward Colin Jacobs.
Leavens, a native of Toronto, Ontario, will be heading into his second professional season following a stellar career at Robert Morris University. Last season the 25 year old made stops in Wheeling (3GP), Allen (16GP) and Rapid City (47GP). In total he appeared in 66 games with 15 goals and 36 assists. With the Rush, Leavens was nearing a point per game player, picking up 42 points (12G, 30A) to go along with 31 penalty minutes. On April 7 he finished the season with a bang collecting a five assist game in Rapid City’s 9-6 win at Tulsa.
The 6’1”, 200 pound forward thrived at Robert Morris where he posted over 20 points in each of his final three years with the Colonials. Leavens finished his college career with a stellar season racking up 49 points (14G, 35A) in 38 games with serving as an Assistant Captain and posting a plus 11. He helped the Colonials win back to back Atlantic Hockey Conference Championships from 2014-2016. In 136 games at Robert Morris, Leavens scored 40 goals while adding in 68 assists for 108 points (8th most in Colonials history). Three times he was named to the AHC All-Academic Team.
Jacobs was acquired by Toledo late in February this past season and posted nine points (5G, 4A) over 16 games with the Walleye. He also appeared in five playoff contests, picking up one goal, one assist and 10 penalty minutes.
