Overtimes propel Walleye to three win week: Friday night in Brampton, defenseman Ryan Obuchowski scored at 2:16 of OT to give the Walleye a 2-1 victory in Brampton. It was the first time this season that the Walleye won a game in the extra session as they entered the contest 0-2 on the year. Shane Berschbach gave the Walleye a second straight overtime win with his goal Saturday night in the Walleye 3-2 win over Brampton.
Goal outburst: Toledo finished off its week with a three-goal third period to post a runaway 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones. That tied the Walleye season high in goals which they have now reached four times.
Machovsky dominates January: Goaltender Matej Machovsky just posted an amazing month in which he allowed just seven goals in six starts. He finished January with a 5-1-0 record to go along with a minuscule 1.16 goals against average, a .958 save percentage and two shutouts. For the season, the 24 year old has an ECHL best 2.01GAA with a 9-7-0-1 record.
Watson reaches 50: The Sunday win for the Walleye was the 79th since Dan Watson took over as head coach meaning he has reached a milestone with being 50 games over the .500 mark. Watson’s record since starting the 2016-17 season is 79-29-8.
One and only: After an insanely busy last 10 days, Toledo has just one game this week with a Saturday trip to Indy to take on the Fuel. The Walleye have a record of 4-0-0 this year against Indy.
