Central Division Champs: For a third consecutive year the Walleye will take home a division crown after clinching the Central Division over the weekend despite losing three straight games. For the last two years, Toledo has finished as champions of the North Division.
Looking for the league championship: Toledo can set its sights on the Brabham Cup for the last week now that the division is clinched. The two-time defending Kelly Cup Champions, the Allen Americans, can still reach 104 points if they win their final three games. If the Walleye win out they will reach 106 points. First round match set: Toledo will take on long-time rival the Kalamazoo Wings in the first round of the postseason starting Friday, April 14 at the Huntington Center. The Walleye went 6-3-1 against the KWings over 10 games during the season. Berschbach continues torrid pace: Shane Berschbach last week set a new single season record for points in Walleye history and he added to that total on Saturday in Cincinnati with a goal and an assist pushing his season total to 78 (18G, 60A). He currently ranks third in the entire ECHL in assists and sixth among all players in points. Final week of the regular awaits: Two of the final three games of the 2016-17 season come for the Walleye on the road as they head to Fort Wayne on Wednesday following Sunday’s 2-1 home loss to the Komets. Friday night the Walleye head to Indy before they host the Fuel in the season finale on Saturday. Toledo is 2-1-0 vs. Indy this year.
