Walleye tamed by Beast
(Brampton, ON) – The Walleye fell to the Beast 3-1 on Tuesday night in Brampton. Matej Machovsky stopped 23 of 25 shots and is now 11-8-0-1 on the season. The Walleye are 33-13-2-2 on the season and 13-9-2-2 on the road.
Toledo dominated much of the play in the first period, but the Beast led 2-0 thanks to a pair of deflected goals. Toledo outshot Brampton 9-7 in the first period.
The Walleye pressure continued in the second as Tyler Barnes wristed his 11th goal of the season at 5:51 of the second period. Mike Embach picked up the lone assist that pulled Toledo within a goal to 2-1 after two periods.
The Beast sealed the deal with an empty net goal at 19:43 of the third period to make it 3-1 Beast.
"I am proud of our players, they never give up," said assistant coach Andy Delmore. "It still was a great effort by everybody."
- The Walleye are in Kalamazoo on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop against the Wings and Quad City on Sunday for a 5:05 p.m. puck drop against the Mallards. The team returns home on Friday, February 23rd for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop against Atlanta.
