Walleye slide past Fuel
(Indianapolis IN) Zach Nastasiuk scored in the third period as the Walleye picked up a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon in Indy. Toledo has a record of 6-2-1-0 and is 4-2-1-0 on the road.
Toledo dominated most of the play in the first period and lead 1-0 thanks to Charlie O’Connor who scored his first goal of the season at 13:47. Darian Dziurzynski and Austen Brassard had the assists on the lone goal of the opening period. In the second period, the Fuel would tie the game with a shorthanded goal at 4:33 the first shorthanded goal allowed by the Walleye this season.
It took until 50 seconds left in the second period before Alden Hirschfeld found Christian Hilbrich in front of the Indy net for Hilbrich’ s 4th goal of the year and a 2-1 Walleye lead. Zach Nastasiuk took a pass from Shane Berschbach and raced up the ice to score his second goal of the season 5:32 into the third period for a 3-1 lead. Indy made it close with a goal at 14:40 of the third period but the Walleye shut them down from there.
Fish Tales: Goaltender Pat Nagle started the game for the Walleye and stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced and has a record of 6-0-1-0 on the season. Toledo has an all-time record of 16-1-1 against Indy.
